Craig Alan was born in San Bernardino, California in 1971, and is an immensely successful and innovative artist.  Although he was always drawn to the more creative side of life, it wasn't until his family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, that he truly developed a sense of artistic luminance.  Alan's first visual experimentation was through street portraiture.  This gave him the economic freedom to afford supplies and school helped him develop his affinity for replicating the human figure. 

Craig Alan is known for his Populus series, which has drawn acclaim from critics and collectors alike.  In this intricate process, Alan suggests the form of iconic images made up of numerous, miniature figures captured in an aerial view.  Whether the final composite image depicts Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, or Audrey Hepburn, the Populus pieces amaze with their delicacy and deceptively complicated compositions.  Alan's successful career is a combination of textbook artistic knowledge and keen aesthetic instinct.
