What is a Coronet?

In British heraldry, a coronet is any crown that is not worn by a sovereign or anyone with a royal rank.  The term coronet and crown are often used interchangeably.  A coronet may be any type or style of crown.  It is simply a crown not used by a sovereign, and implies nothing about the actual shape of the crown depicted.
