STUDIO BURKE LTD, Washington, DC  has produced bespoke and custom Leather Goods in our English Factory for over 40 Years.

Our vast collection of leather accessories, briefcases and handbags are all made in England using premium English Bridle Leather, produced by craftspeople that have been in the industry for years. Our accessories include: mens and women's wallets, flasks, watch rolls, passport covers, portfolios, pad covers, and more.

Bespoke Production

Studio Burke has on staff, master craftsmen & women to produce beautiful, custom leather goods. We most frequently produce business cases, and a customer will typically choose all the details such as leather color, interior lining, hardware & lock style, shoulder strap, etc in order to create a case to specifically suit their needs and style. Our range also includes handbags and travel items.

However, we can also accommodate true Bespoke, from scratch designs. We would be happy to discuss a completely custom project with you. We have designed many wonderful pieces including trunks, ostrich attaches, Gladstone style bags, and many more.

Below are a handful of images that show leather goods at different stages of production.

HAND STITCHING

All of the lid over body attache cases are hand stitched from start to finish. A double needle saddlery technique is used to ensure a long, everlasting stitch. The beeswax coated linen thread adds added strength to this business case.

HAND STITCHED HANDLE

The handles on all of our briefcases are hand stitched with 7 layers of leather. This ensures a nice comfortable grip that will conform to the hand over time. An intricate and time consuming process that ensures no part of you business case ever gives out on you.

ENGLISH BRIDLE LEATHER

The process of producing English Bridle Leather hides is a long one. During the tanning process each hide is hand fed with waxes and tallow that soak deep in to the hide. This allows the leather to break in beautifully and creates a wonderful patina over the many years of use. Below you see the hides drying after the waxing process.

HAND CUT PATTERNS

Each piece of leather in the bespoke process is hand cut. A selection of special tools are used to cut, smooth out the edges of the leather, create needle holes for stitching, measuring the folds in each gusset, polishing, and piecing together the final product. A typical business case will take about 16-20 hours to complete.
